Chufi

This is Chufi. He is our friend Alice's dog. Alice lives in Berkeley, CA, but her parents live very close to Shep's parents, and she went to high school with Shep. Alice did peace corps in Cameroon, Africa. Chufi means mosquito in Fulfude, the language spoken in Cameroon.

Udbar Hazy Air and Space museum

Today we went to the Air and Space museum located west of DC, near Dulles airport. The first picture below is of the building, very cool looking. The next few are of WWII and Vietnam/Korean war planes. I don't know why we didn't bring you guys here when you came, it was very awesome! Planes hanging all over the place. Shep took some panoramic pictures that we will upload to Google plus later.

The last picture is of the Discovery Orbiter. The second to last one was definitely my favorite part. It was huge. So impressive. It took something like 16 trips to space! And the black parts you are actually made up of little individual pieces, each with a serial number on it (see the last picture)! We thought this might be because of the extreme heat the ship has to endure on reentry, and each piece could expand individually so as not to cause cracks.

New bed

I found Ichi sleeping in the drawer of my bedside table tonight. It's a new sleep position for him!

New Orleans style street band

This morning as I got off the metro I passed a street band that reminded me of ones I saw in New Orleans! Lots of people, big brass... I expected to hear Christmas music, but got Killing Me Softly instead. An odd choice....

Christmas decorations

The building where I work decorated for Christmas! Also note the pretty picture of neurons behind it - one benefit of working at SfN is the beautiful brain pictures everywhere!

Pictionary!

We played pictionary as a family. Grandpa, Dad and I were on one team, and Shep, Andrew and Mom were the other. They beat us, but it was a very close game!

Museums at Stony Brook

It was a bit chilly outside, but the museums were warm. We saw some old carriages, a one room school house, and an exhibit on Long Island during the 1950's.

New Orleans

I visited new Orleans for a work meeting. We had a special event at Mardi Gras World and I took a picture with a king statue!

First post!

Shep and Andrew helped Dad complete his crossfit workout on Thanksgiving day to earn him extra points. Mom and I supervised.
